Frequently Asked Questions

What is TCGIndex?

TCGIndex is a real-time market tracking tool for Trading Card Game assets. We aggregate data from multiple marketplaces to provide indexes that track the price of a collection of assets, similar to the S&P 500 but for collectibles.

How is the "Adjusted" price calculated?

The adjusted price uses a divisor method. When cards are added or removed from an index, we adjust the divisor so that the index value doesn't "jump" artificially, which helps show true market growth over time. For example, if we add 5 expensive cards to an index, these additions would affect the index value. To prevent this, we calculate a new divisor that maintains the same index value before and after the change.

Where does the data come from?

Our data is pulled from Pricecharting, which tracks sales across platforms like eBay, Goldin, and Pricecharting Markets. Prices are updated every 2 hours. There are plans to support more frequent price updates in the future.

Why do different indexes begin at different points in time?

Our system does not allow us to obtain data from before we create the index. We will look into changing this in the future.

Can I track my own portfolio?

TCGIndex+ members are able to create 5 new custom indexes every month.

Will my indexes still be tracked when my TCGIndex+ subscription ends?

When your TCGIndex+ subscription ends, you have a one month grace period during which your custom indexes will exist in the backend. After this period, your indexes may be deleted if your subscription is not renewed.
